This is your chance to get a closer look of South Carolina’s only publicly accessible historic lighthouse. How tall is it? How many steps are in it? What was the keepers life like? These and many more questions will be answered as we walk throughout the historic lighthouse station. Afterwards, climb to the top for a spectacular view of the South Carolina coastline.

Turtle Race to benefit the Sea Turtle Center – Jekyll Island
This event will be a big hit with the younger group. Purchase a rubber turtle for $2 at the Welcome Center. Turtles will then race around the twists and turns of Turtle Creek, the lazy river at Summer Waves. The race starts at 2PM. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. May the best turtle win!

After a short, informative program, we will venture down the beach in search of a nesting loggerhead sea turtle. This program has been designed for ages 11 and up. NOAA Issues Rule to Prevent Overfishing of Atlantic Sharks
NOAA’s Fisheries Service today announced a new rule to lower significantly the fishing quotas for sandbar and porbeagle sharks in order to rebuild these depleted species. NOAA will also implement new regional quotas for the other large coastal sharks.
