USA Rugby announced its plans to host Clermont Auvergne Rugby in what should prove to be a hard fought match featuring the U.S. Men’s National Team against the French rugby union club from Clermont-Ferrand at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, in Charleston, S.C. The event, which is not only the first of its kind for the city of Charleston, but also the state of South Carolina, will be hosted in part by the founder of ASM Clermont Auvergne, Michelin, and the Charleston Battery at Blackbaud Stadium, and is set to be broadcast live on ESPN Classic. Tickets are available beginning May 30 through Tickets.com and Blackbaud Stadium 843.971.4625. For more on USA Rugby, visit www.usarugby.org.
Piccolo’s Annual Block Dance – Charleston, South Carolina
Piccolo’s annual Reggae Block Dance is moving to a new location in 2008…Marion Square! That’s right, the Piccolo Spoleto Reggae Block Dance that draws over 10,000 people is moving to the heart of the urban center of Charleston and will be more exciting than ever! A Cuban Block Party the middle weekend of the festival will also be in Marion Square. Parking is convenient at this new venue with several parking garages within easy walking distance of the park. Of course King Street is home to Marion Square so you’ll be able to do some shopping right there adjacent to the park, have dinner or just head to the block party to buy some international festival food from the vendors on-site.
