Community Festival at Honey Horn – Hilton Head Island, SC

Coastal Discovery Museum to hold 9th Annual Community Festival
The 9th Annual Community Festival will be held at Honey Horn on Friday, October 24th and Saturday, October 25th, from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

This family oriented festival will feature a haunted trail in the haunted forest presented by the Hilton Head Rotary Club and the Interact Clubs from Hilton Head High School. There always is something new that the students add to this ever expanding event! There will be inflatable rides for all ages and games, including a soccer arena with a giant ball, an obstacle course and many more. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be cooked by the Hilton Head Fire Fighters Association; with beer, wine and soft drinks available. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Department will be on hand with the Ident-A-Kid program both evenings and on Saturday night they will have the canine unit and traffic units on hand. The Society of Lowcountry Magicians will be on hand Saturday only for performances at 6:30 and 8:00 p.m. in the Mary Ann Peeples pavilion as part of the festival.

Admission to the festival is $10.00 per vehicle and you will receive $5.00 worth of tickets for food and activities. Admission for Museum members is free, with individual tickets available for purchase of food, beverages and activities.

Medicinal Plants Program – Hilton Head Island, SC

A presentation on the plants, trees, shrubs, flowers and roots grown mainly in the Lowcountry will be given by Dr. Jeanne Audet on Aug 20th at 3 p.m. at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. A discussion will take place on how they were used as medicines by the Native Americans and those that still are used today in modern mainstream medicine. A brief history of the Native Americans in this area, and the pharmacopeia formed over the years and the role of the medicine man will be part of the presentation. Reservations may be made by calling the Museum at 843-689-3033 ext 221 for this $5.00 per person program.

Absolutely Andrew – Hilton Head Island, SC

CQ’s To Host First Sustainable Seafood Initiative Dinner In Hilton Head, South Carolina

Join CQ’s, a AAA Three Diamond Award winning restaurant and the South Carolina Aquarium’s Sustainable Seafood Initiative for a lighter new approach on certified Wild American Shrimp with a five course meal on Tuesday August 26, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. Nestled amidst the ancient, moss draped oaks in Harbour Town, CQ’s combines great fun, fine dining and a touch of Hilton Head Island history. This dinner is the third of the Sustainable Seafood Initiative’s summer series featuring certified Wild American Shrimp. HarbourFest 2008 Continues in August – Hilton Head Island, SC

Fun for Everyone during hot Summer nights at Shelter Cove Harbour with six nights of family-oriented activities and entertainment. The spectacular summertime celebration of HarbourFest-featuring food, arts and crafts, live entertainment and fireworks returns to Shelter Cove Harbour for its 21st season.As usual, the events at Shelter Cove Harbour are free and open to the public. Singer/songwriter Shannon Tanner, one of the Lowcountry’s most beloved performers, will perform nightly all summer long. His shows are a mixture of ‘60s standards and sing-a-longs, original ballads with lots of kids’ favorites and opportunities for the youngsters to come up and share the stage.
HarbourFest will continue on Tuesday nights through August 26th Activities run from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. nightly.
