Beaufort Named Among Top 25 Small City Arts Destinations

April 28, 2008 by Susanne Talentino

American Style’s cover story of “National Treasures: Top 25 Cities for Art,” now includes Beaufort, SC as #14, the city’s first time ranking in the top 25, above Aspen, CO, Laguna Beach, CA, and Naples, FL.

The Arts Council of Beaufort County lead the charge to raise ratings for both Beaufort and Hilton Head. “Hitting #14 this year is huge, because last year Beaufort County was an also-ran, which was good to move us up to have a button for the most recent online vote. This process of moving up in national recognition is a result of our aggressive marketing campaign, and lead us to this auspicious accolade,” said J.W. Rone, Executive Director of the Arts Council of Beaufort County. “Next year, Beaufort County goes for two.” The Arts Council of Beaufort County is a not-for-profit service organization that promotes and nurtures the arts here and now with programs such as the Get Your Art Out emerging artist initiative and the Beaufort International Chalk Festival.
