Star Dancers from the New York City Ballet – Charleston, South Carolina

Don’t miss this spectacular event. History will be made in Charleston when star dancers from the New York City Ballet perform for the first time in the city.

They will be performing three major pieces of renowned choreography. The Donizetti Variations; created for “Salute to Italy,” a New York City Ballet program celebrating the 100th anniversary of Italy’s unification. The Barber Violin Concerto; contrasts classical composure and modern sensibility. Western Symphony; Set on a rugged Old West street populated by cowboys and dance hall girls, Western Symphony nevertheless is very much a classical work.

Kiawah Island Art and House Tour – Charleston, South Carolina

The 8th Annual Kiawah Island Art and House Tour will take place on Friday, April 11 from 2pm – 6pm on beautiful Kiawah Island. The tour features five exceptional homes with views of the salt marsh, ocean, ponds and lagoons that showcase spectacular private art collections. Gibbes, etc., a group of Kiawah Island women dedicated to supporting the Gibbes Museum of Art, has produced this event since the group was founded in 2001.

Fitter, Happier: Instrumental Arrangements of Radiohead

The College of Charleston School of the Arts will be presenting the work of music students Andrew Walker and Lee Marchbanks in a benefit concert entitled Fitter, Happier: Instrumental Arrangements of Radiohead. For the concert, Walker and Marchbanks have created original arrangements for classical ensembles from the music of popular rock group Radiohead. The evening, benefiting Charleston Breast Center, will be held at the Sottile Theatre at 44 George St. on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 8 p.m.
