Christmas 1860: Candlelight Tours of the Edmondston-Alston House.
Take a step back in time and celebrate the holiday season with a special candlelight tour of the Edmondston-Alston House, one of the first dwellings built on Charleston’s High Battery. The historic Edmondston-Alston House will be dressed for the holidays much as it would have been in the 1860s. Living historians in period clothing will tell the story of Charleston’s last opulent Christmas before the start of the Civil War and will share the different Christmas traditions of the day. In the courtyard, visitors can enjoy hearing Christmas carols and spirituals sung by The Washington’s, Low Country singers specializing in African-American spirituals and Gullah songs.

Maybe you could find that perfect gift. It’s also a perfect place to find a great breakfast or lunch.
This time of year you can enjoy special entertainment at Marion Square with children’s choirs, church choirs, gospel, classical, folk, storytelling, and other entertainment audiences at Marion Square.
Your kids can bring their wish lists to the North Pole mailbox and visit with Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their Elf assistants in the magically decorated park.

Get on board with a Lowcountry holiday tradition as this display of lighted and festive boats proceeds through the Charleston Harbor, culminating in a brilliant reworks display. The Charleston Christmas parade takes place downtown on Sunday, December 7: 2pm-5pm. The parade begins at the intersection of Calhoun and Meeting Streets, proceeds down King Street to Broad Street to Lockwood Blvd.
