Teen Aces Golf Tournament and Helps Food Bank

SAVANNAH – Drew Aimone of Savannah was crowned the 2008 Champion of the Savannah-Hilton Head Amateur Match Play at Crosswinds Golf Club on Sunday, August 10th. Aimone, a seventeen-year-old golfer from Savannah Christian Preparatory School, defeated Bill Jones of Conyers, Georgia during morning matches 3 and 2, and went on to defeat Greg England of Savannah in the Championship Match Up. Pierce Markowitz of Savannah won the first flight, defeating Savannah Christian Preparatory School’s Chris Jodis. Aimone, who was ranked sixth for the tournament, has secured the top position for next year’s tournament.

Swing Away at 2008 Beach Music Festival Golf Tournament – Jekyll Island, GA

On Friday, August 15th, participants can play in the 2008 Beach Music Festival Annual Golf tournament. As an extra bonus, all participants receive two tickets to Friday night’s Swingin Medallions concert with many prizes available for the winning players. Tee times begin at 9:00am until 11:00am at the Indian Mounds golf course. Registration is $80 per player with lunch provided by Morgan’s Grill.

Don’t miss out on all the fun at the Friday night shag contest, hosted by the Golden Isles Shag Club, and the FREE beach concert Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. The 25th annual Beach Music festival is sponsored by Jekyll Island Authority, Georgia Tourism, Coca Cola, Bacardi, Corona, and Comcast.

Jack Nicklaus’ PGA Championship Trophy to be Added to Featured

St. Augustine, Fla. (August 5, 2008) – The World Golf Hall of Fame’s current special member exhibition, “Jack Nicklaus: Golf’s Golden Champion,” will be enhanced with a new group of items beginning the week of August 18. The addition will include Nicklaus’ 1980 PGA Championship trophy – representing his fifth and final PGA Championship – in addition to a variety of other items reflecting the golfer’s storied career.

Within the exhibit, visitors can view the MacGregor Tommy Armour irons Nicklaus used in his 1963 PGA Championship win as well as his winner’s plaque from the same year. Nicklaus won the PGA Championship a record-tying five times (1963, 1971, 1973, 1975 and 1980), matching a record previously set by Walter Hagen in the 1920s. Nicklaus also enjoyed 14 top-five finishes in PGA Championship competition, the most of any player.
