Stars and Stripes Freedom Festival Parade & Fireworks – Amelia Island, Fla

The Independence Day celebration takes place on Monday, July 4, 2011. There is a variety of events starting with a festival in Central Park and ending  in downtown Fernandina with fireworks.

Big Trucks – Big Engines

The Stars & Stripes Freedom Festival is to be held in Central Park in Fernandina Beach on Monday, July 4, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is a perfect event for curious kids.

All kinds of big machines, fire engines  and other vehicles are gathering  in the park. Actually this event sounds like a dream to any boy young or old. The big attractions is the program called “Touch-A-Truck” Public Safety display.  Yes, you heard it correctly – you are allowed to touch and feel and ask questions during this event.  Kids (and adults) will get an opportunity to get up-close and personal with a long list of vehicles of different sizes. Just listen to this. Police cars, Fire trucks and equipment, Muscle cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, dump trucks, excavators, front-end loaders, school buses, tow trucks and many more will participate in the event. Festival goers will also meet some of the personnel who protect, serve and work in our community. So don’t miss out. Bring your youngsters with their curiosity and many questions about how things work to Central Park.

Parade & Fireworks – The Grande Finale

Other activities include a Parent-Child Look-A-Like Contest, an All American Apple Pie Contest, Fun for the Kids playground, arts and crafts show, food, vendors and more.
No Fourth of July celebration is complete without a parade, and the Stars and Stripes Independence Day Parade begins at 7:00 pm. The parade is followed by a concert at the foot of Centre Street and then at about 9:30 pm it is time for the grande finale – the big fireworks show in downtown Fernandina.

Amelia River Cruises will once again offer its 4th of July fireworks sail.  This is a BYOB cruise departing Fernandina Harbor Marina at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4th, returning at 9:30 p.m.
