Rock Shrimp Festival

The Rock Shrimp Festival in St Marys, Georgia, is always held on the first Saturday in October in historic downtown. The festival is organized by the Kiwanis Club. This year it’s the 39th Annual Rock Shrimp Festival scheduled for October 6, 2013.

St Marys Rock Shrimp festival celebrates this special kind of shrimp found in Georgia’s coastal waters. The delicious rock shrimp looks almost like a tiny lobster and its taste is somewhere between shrimp and lobster.

In the morning there will be a pancake breakfast at the waterfront from 7:30 to 9:30. The 5k and 10k runs will also take place in the morning.  The parade begins at 10:00 a.m.

Dinners (that include regular shrimp and fish as well as rock shrimp) will be served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. All-day entertainment will grace the waterfront stage, and more than 100 food and arts vendors are expected to line St. Marys Road and Osborne Street.
Advance tickets for shrimp dinners and pancake breakfast can be purchased at St. Marys Welcome Center, Kingsland Visitors Center, St. Marys Economic Building, Camden Printing, Tribune & Georgian, and Once Upon a Bookseller, or from members of the Kiwanis Club of St. Marys.
All proceeds from the festival will be spent 100% locally and fund the many kids programs as well as other Kiwanis initiatives such as the Kiwanis Club of St. Marys’ delivery of 150 Thanksgiving baskets to needy families.
