Jazz in the Park

This is one of the most popular events in St. Simons Island, Georgia. 2010 marks the 21st season for the Golden Isles’ outdoor summer concert series, Jazz in the Park. The series begins on Memorial Day weekend and continues throughout the summer. Jazz in the Park takes place at the St. Simons Island Lighthouse lawn.

The concert series kicks off on Saturday, May 29; the next five concerts take place on select high-tide Sundays (for maximum breezes) through September.

PLEASE NOTE: THE FIRST CONCERT OF THE 2011 SEASON (MAY 29)
WILL BE HELD IN NEPTUNE PARK ON ST. SIMONS ISLAND.

May 29 – Phil Morrison and the World Unity Jazz Ensemble

Fresh blend of East and West that brings a taste of other lands to America’s unique musical form

 

Phil Morrison and the World Unity Jazz Ensemble

June 26 – Sam Rodriquez Latin Jazz

A wide range of lively rhythms showcasing the African heritage in modern Latin sounds

 

July 10 – Silver Lining

A blend of traditional and contemporary jazz with influences from rock, Americana, swing

 

July 31 – Rob Denty

Hometown boy returns with his group, bringing the true spirit of imporvisation to traditional forms

 

Julie Wilde and the Bohemian Dream Band

August 28 – Just Jazz Quintet

 

Sophisticated, classic standards from swing to ballads, Latin to pop

 

September 25 – Julie Wilde and the Bohemian Dream Band

The romance and gypsy-swing vibe of a hip 1930s Parisian night club

 

The audience is invited to bring a chair or blanket to sit on, a picnic, and your favorite beverage. All concerts are from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, and free for kids under 6. Season passes $40, call 912-262-6934 to purchase.
