The Shrimp & Grits Festival on Jekyll Island, GA, is all about combining two Southern favorites foods – shrimp and grits.
The festival takes place during Georgia Wild Shrimp month.Â
This seafood festival is set in the Jekyll Island Historic District and provides a laid-back, relaxed Southern atmosphere filled with delicious coastal cuisine and combined with great entertainment. There is a lot to see and do for the whole family at this event.Â
Activities  include an Amateur and Professional Shrimp and Grits Cooking Competition, cooking demonstrations, cookbook signings, an array of fine arts and craft vendors, live entertainment, and interactive activities for kids.
The 2013 festival brings a couple of new items – first and foremost, a brand new Craft Brew Tasting Tent by Southern Eagle Distributors. There is also going to be more Shrimp & Grits Food Vendors this year.
Plan on spending an entire day. Vendors selling shrimp and grits dishes represent some of our best local restaurants in the area, so make sure you come hungry. You can also sign up to help judge our Amateur or Professional Cooking Competition. The exclusive Competition Consumer Choice Panel is open to the first 30 registrants per day and offers panelists the opportunity to taste a variety of shrimp and grits dishes and is highly recommended if you love good food.
In 2011, the Shrimp & Grits Festival received “Best Festival†in its budget category by the Southeast Festivals and Events Association.
The Shrimp & Grits Festival is scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2012 – Sunday, September 22, 2013.
