The coast of Georgia is not exactly known for its Mardi Gras tradition, but Tybee Island is working to change all that. No there’s no need to travel all the way to the New Orleans because on February 17 – 18, 2012 it’s time for the 3rd Annual Mardi Gras Tybee celebration on Tybee Island, Georgia.  Laissez les bons temps roule!Â
Masquerade Ball
Mardi Gras Tybee will include a Fantasy Masquerade Ball on Friday, February 16th at 8pm hosted by Fannies on the Beach. The King and Queen of the event will be chosen at the Fantasy Masquerade Ball by costume contest. Tickets can be purchased on the website.Â
Mardi Gras Street Party
On Saturday February 18, 2012, , enjoy the Mardi Gras Street Party from Noon – 6 pm on Tybrisa Street featuring live entertainment by Dawgs of Dixie – 12noon-3pm and Dwight “Black Cat†Carrier – 3-6pm.The Mardi Gras Tybee parade will take place at 2pm and run down Butler Avenue. Admission to the street party and parade are free. Tickets for the Fantasy Masquerade Ball are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, call Fannie’s on the Beach at 912-786-6109. King Cake Parties will take place in the weeks leading up to the Mardi Gras Tybee weekend festivities.
