Beaufort Shrimp Festival logoThis is a favorite event in South Carolina that celebrates Lowcountry cuisine. Beaufort Shrimp Festival takes place on October 1 – 2, 2010 at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, in historic downtown Beaufort, South Carolina.

During the Beaufort Shrimp Festival restaurants offer samples of delicious Lowcountry shrimp dishes. Prizes are awarded for “best recipe” and “most creative recipe” honors.

Friday evening concert in the park featuring live entertainment and yummy shrimp with lighted shrimp boats providing the backdrop for the event.

Saturday’s festivities begin with a 5k Run over Woods Memorial Bridge, and a 5k “Walk through History” in the historic Old Point neighborhood in Beaufort.

As usual, restaurants prepare a wide variety of shrimp specialties for the festival. Also on Saturday, there’s the popular servers’ race, lots of arts & crafts, live entertainment, and a special race for kids (the “Popcorn Shrimp Race”).
