The 2011 North Charleston Arts Festival is scheduled for May 4 – May 12, 2012.
The nine-day long festival is one of the most comprehensive arts festivals in the Lowcountry, providing over 30,000 festival goers a wide variety of performances, exhibitions, and activities.
The North Charleston Arts Festival is an annual nine-day event highlighting national, regional, and local artists and performers in the areas of dance, theater, music, film media, and visual & literary arts.
The event draws over 30,000 visitors annually and has been recognized by Southeast Tourism Society as a Top 20 Event. The Main Event, held the first weekend in May at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center and Charleston Area Convention Center, offers free admission and parking to over 40 performances on four themed stages; Cultural Heritage, Youth Entertainment, Bands, and General Audience.
Other Main Event activities include judged art and photography shows, the SC Palmetto Hands Juried Fine Craft Exhibit, a gem & mineral show, children’s activities, Art and Craft booths, and a Food Court.
The Arts Festival continues with over 50 free and ticketed events at various locations around the City of North Charleston and includes street dances, concerts, an Art Walk, children’s activities, workshops and demonstrations, a National Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition, and much more.
