Jekyll Island’s Shrimp & Grits: The Wild Georgia Shrimp Festival
September 18 – 20, 2009
Jekyll Island is always one of our favorite places to visit, and especially when there’s a festival.  The Shrimp & Grits Festival is about two Southern favorites – Georgia shrimp and grits. This weekend is packed with food, fun, entertainment, shrimp eating contest, cooking demonstrations and much more.
28th Annual Savannah Jazz Festival
September 20 – 27, 2009
If you like jazz, this is the place to be in September. Every year the Jazz Festival takes over Savannah with a celebration of all genres of jazz, from Dixieland, traditional swing, straight-ahead and bop to melodic standards, Latin rhythms and funky down-home “gutbucket†blues. The festival features the best in international, national, regional and local jazz talent. There are many live performances, jam session and also film screenings. Free and open to the public.
