Georgia Day Parade in Savannah

On Thursday, February 12th, the Georgia Historical Society in Savannah organizes the Georgia Day parade. This colorful parade is a yearly tradition in Savannah. Customed characters, dignitaries, local citizens and thousands of elementary school students join the parade through the squares of Bull Street.
The parade starts at 10:30 am from Forsyth Park and then it continues all the way to city hall where the participants will be greated by the Mayor.

The parade is part of the celebration of Georgia Days. Georgia Historical Society commemorates the rich history of the state of Georgia with a celebration lasting for a whole month. For more information visit www.georgiahistory.com

Gator Bowl Events – Jacksonville, Florida

The Gator Bowl is coming to Jacksonville and there will be lots of things to do in town before kick off. Here is the list of activities.

The players in the 2009 Konica Minolta Gator Bowl will enjoy an evening of entertainment at one of Jacksonville’s most exciting gaming venues to kick off their visit to the River City. Fans are invited to join us to welcome the teams and get autographs from the players. Dave and Buster’s will remain open to the public.

Adventure Landing

Adventure Landing Players Outing takes place onDecember 27 & 28, 2008
from 2 PM – 4 PM at  Adventure Landing on Beach Blvd.

This is event for the whole family. Join us at Adventure Landing on Beach Boulevard for a great time on December 27th and 28th at 2:00 p.m. Meet and greet the players of the two teams that will play in the 2009 Konica Minolta Gator Bowl and enjoy a free round of Miniature Golf.

Youth from the Jacksonville community are invited to enjoy a time of fellowship and devotion with players and coaches from the two participating universities along with an inspirational speaker. Tickets may be purchased for $20 and can be donated back to the organizing committee to be used by a deserving child.

Outback Steakhouse presents A Day at the Zoo
December 30, 2008, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

Enjoy a day at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens and meet up with the players for the only walking safari in Northeast Florida. Take advantage of this great opportunity to meet and greet the coaches and players from the two universities as well as legends from the Gator Bowl past.

Vystar 5K Run
Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 1:30 PM
Location: The Jacksonville Landing

The VyStar 5K Run is a great way to get involved with all the excitement the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl has to offer. If running or walking is your thing, this race is for you. The race is held right before the Gator Bowl Parade, and runs along portions of the parade route through downtown Jacksonville.

Participants will enjoy live music, free beer, dancing and just down right partying inside the Jacksonville Landing right after the race. Each entrant will receive a colorful VyStar 5K Run T-shirt.

Winn Dixie Hometown Gator Bowl Parade

You are invited to celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Winn-Dixie Hometown Gator Bowl Parade. The “Take a Walk on the Wild Side” themed parade features colorful floats, high school bands, college bands, giant helium balloons, and entertaining specialty units. The units will be routed through the Northbank in downtown Jacksonville.

Town of Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade – South Carolina

More than 100 floats will march down Coleman Boulevard as the Mount Pleasant Holiday Parade set sails to the delight of thousands of residents and visitors. Immediately following the Fireworks at 5:30 PM, the parade will begin at 5:45 PM at the intersection of Coleman and Pelzer Drive. It will continue past Shem Creek to conclude at the Sea Island Shopping Center around 7:15 PM.

Summerville Christmas Parade 2008 – South Carolina

Who doesn’t love a parade? The 2008 Summerville Christmas Parade will take place on Sunday, December 14 and will begin at about 2 p.m. Summerville Christmas Parade had over 3,000 actual participants and attracted between 15-20,000 spectators in 2007 and will probably exceed those numbers in 2008. It is one of the largest parades in the state of South Carolina and well worth a visit.

The theme for 2008 is “A Main Street Christmas.” Prizes will be awarded by a jury for Best Adherence to Theme, Most Creative, Most Original and Best Overall.

The parade is hosted by the Summerville D.R.E.A.M. (Downtown Restoration, Enhancement and Management) and the Summerville Fire Department. (Click here to read our previous post about the Summerville Christmas Parade)

27th Annual Charleston Christmas Parade

The Charleston Christmas parade takes place downtown on Sunday, December 7: 2pm-5pm. The parade begins at the intersection of Calhoun and Meeting Streets, proceeds down King Street to Broad Street to Lockwood Blvd.
