Eleven-year-old Akeelah Anderson’s life is not easy: her father is dead; her mom ignores her and her brother runs with the local gang bangers. The “Chair”-ity Auction is a unique signature event, will unveil dozens and dozens of creatively altered and embellished chairs on Saturday, July 21st in St. Marys.
Presented at the site of this earthen work fort on Skull Creek, the tour includes an overview of the role Hilton Head Island played during the Civil War and identifies other Civil War sites and activities on the island. July 17th, 2 p.m.
