Thanksgiving weekend is the time to get the whole family together and have some fun. The weekend also marks the beginning of the holiday season. Besides shopping, and of course eating, there’s a lot to do in Savannah to get into the holiday spirit on Saturday November 24th. We have come up with a list of things suitable for both young and old, perfect if you have guests visiting for the holidays and you’re near the city of Savannah.
On Saturday November 24th , start out by visiting the Southern Lights Children’s Activities. This event takes place from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on November 24th, right before the WTOC Tree Lighting Ceremony. Here you can enjoy holiday treats, arts and crafts, cookie decorating and tons of activities for kids. (PS. from 2-3 p.m kids who bring a toy get a free boat ride with Savannah Riverboat Company, call and check, click here for details.)

Then gather up your gang and head for Morrell Park for the WTOC Tree Lighting Ceremony. The ceremony begins at 5:30 pm. Enjoy holiday entertainment with singing and dancing groups, WTOC personalities and don’t miss Savannah’s own American Idol, Stephanie Edwards. The grand finale is of course the lighting of the giant Christmas Tree.
