Ted’s Butcherblock in Charleston Named a Top Local Secret, Big Find

August 2, 2007 by Susanne Talentino

TRAVELOCITY AND IGOUGO NAME TED’S BUTHERBLOCK
IN CHARLESTON A TOP INSIDER SPOT FOR S.C.
IN THE 2007 EDITION OF
“LOCAL SECRETS, BIG FINDS”

THE VOTES ARE IN! Travelocity and IgoUgo’s “Local Secrets, Big Finds” poll for 2007 revealed Ted’s Butcherblock as one of the top local favorites in South Carolina. Travelocity conducted a nationwide poll, asking members to vote for their favorite local spots. A team of editors investigated over 10,000 nominations from across the country and voted to create the final list, which highlights Ted’s Butcherblock among only five featured South Carolina destinations. The list may be viewed by visiting svc.travelocity.com/promos/localsecrets_2007_southcarolina.com.

“Foodies swoon over this “charming” international market, meat counter, and café where the “food is delicious and the staff is friendly,” states Travelocity. “In all of Charleston, there is “nothing else like this store” filled with “enticing aromas and colorful displays.” Locally owned and operated (the owner is heavily involved in community projects and charities), the market offers a “huge selection” of only all-natural meats and poultry, boutique wines, “artisan” cheese, specialty ingredients, fresh pastas, and made-to-order sandwiches. Each month, the cuisine of a different region of the world is celebrated.”

In addition to being selected as one of Travelocity’s “Local Secrets, Big Finds,” Ted’s Butcherblock was featured on the global travel company’s blog, The Window Seat. Writer Holly Burns notes that Ted’s is a “foodie’s dream,” with “huge deli-style sandwiches, to-die-for gourmet sides, an excellent wine selection, and walls and walls of fancy treats that gastronomes may well have a fainting fit over.” To read the full review, visit http://windowseat.travelocity.com/authorarchives_holly.html.
