USS Hawes Arrives in Savannah – Georgia

A special ship arrived in Savannah, the frigate, USS Hawes. The ship has recently returned from a deployment to the Horn of Africa, Persian Gulf, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and China, reports WSAV-TV. USS Hawes sailed past Fort Jackson and was saluted with a cannon firing.

The Hawes’ crew includes about 200 members. Some of the sailors will be taking in some of the Oktoberfest activities on River Street throughout the weekend.

Enmark Savannah River Bridge Run – Savannah, GA

The Run will be Dec. 1 in downtown Savannah. There will be a 5K run/walk, 10K run, a double-pump race, the Critz 10K team challenge, a costume contest and a 1/4-mile kiddie run. Packet pickup and Fleet Feet Sports Expo will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Nov. 30, at the Savannah Civic Center. Registration is $22 through Nov. 18; $26 Nov. 19-29; $30 Nov. 30. COASTFEST 2007 brings together over 80 interactive environmental, educational and resource organizations from around the southeast. COASTFEST is a family-oriented environmental festival where participants learn about Georgia‘s coastal resources and have some fun at the same time! Each year over 7,000 visitors enjoy the festival.

Hay Days – St. Marys, GA

The annual fall tradition The Hay Days in St. Marys begins on October 13th in downtown. Scarecrows will be displayed in the downtown area during Hay Days, October 13 – November 3, 2007

You can even come out and build your own scarecrow to take home or put on display downtown! Bring out your whole gang for some creative fall fun. When you register, you will receive a “Scarecrow Kit” for $20 (in advance $25 at door, if available) that will contain everything you need to build your own.
