Jazz Yule Love – Savannah, Georgia

Jazz-up the spirit of this holiday season in Savannah by attending the 32nd Annual CJA Jazz Holiday Concert and Jam Session. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, December 25, 2007 at 5:00 p.m. to listen to Teddy Adams and his All-Stars featuring Huxsie Scott on vocals and some of the best musicians in the Coastal Empire.

The concert will be held at The Four Points by Sheraton Historic Savannah – 520 West Bryan Street. (Bryan & MLK). This is a major fundraiser for CJA and will benefit the student scholarship education fund. Cost $15. Further information at www.coastal-jazz.org or by calling 912-675-5419.

Getting Ready for Savannah Bridge Run

The Bridge Run is coming up on December first. This year organizers are planning for a record number of participants. The current record number is more than 3,100 participants.
According to WTOC 11, race director Robert Isponoza says that about 2,000 runners are signed up for the race right now, but it’s possible that we could see as many as 4,000 this year.

Family Fun for Thanksgiving in Savannah, Georgia

Thanksgiving weekend is the time to get the whole family together and have some fun. The weekend also marks the beginning of the holiday season. Besides shopping, and of course eating, there’s a lot to do in Savannah to get into the holiday spirit on Saturday November 24th. We have come up with a list of things suitable for both young and old, perfect if you have guests visiting for the holidays and you’re near the city of Savannah.

On Saturday November 24th , start out by visiting the Southern Lights Children’s Activities. This event takes place from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on November 24th, right before the WTOC Tree Lighting Ceremony. Here you can enjoy holiday treats, arts and crafts, cookie decorating and tons of activities for kids. (PS. from 2-3 p.m kids who bring a toy get a free boat ride with Savannah Riverboat Company, call and check, click here for details.)

Then gather up your gang and head for Morrell Park for the WTOC Tree Lighting Ceremony. The ceremony begins at 5:30 pm. Enjoy holiday entertainment with singing and dancing groups, WTOC personalities and don’t miss Savannah’s own American Idol, Stephanie Edwards. The grand finale is of course the lighting of the giant Christmas Tree.

Right after the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, it’s time for the highlight show of the evening – Savannah Harbor Boat Parade of Lights. Watch as more than 40 festively decorated yachts and sailboats pass by, competing for various titles and bragging rights for their decorations. The parade is followed by fireworks over the river.
