The Jewish Educational Alliance will present the 2007 Jerusalem Concert for Peace, which is free and open to the public, during Mickve Israel’s 19th Annual Shalom Y’all Jewish Food Festival on Sunday, October 28 at 2 p.m. This family-friendly event, which will take place at the fountain at Forsyth Park, will feature a special live performance by Israeli musical sensation Shalom Zohar and the Desert Blossom Ensemble.

Savannah Folk Music Festival, Georgia

The 18th Annual Savannah Folk Music Festival takes place on October 12, 13 and 14, 2007.

The Festival will begin with its traditional “Folkfest in City Market” from 7:00 to 11:00 PM on Friday, Oct. 12th. The Folkfest features a variety of Savannah’s top folk performers making joyful sounds in a number of folk music styles and genre. The evening also features part one of the “Noteworthy Art” auction, the sale of several Gretsch guitars, some signed by celebrities and others transformed into unique art objects by leading Savannah artists.

Free Concert wih Savannah Jazz Orchestra – Georgia

The Coastal Jazz Association of Savannah will present a special concert featuring the Savannah Jazz Orchestra for Senior Citizens which will be held on the 3rd floor at the Savannah Civic Center at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2007.
The Savannah Jazz Orchestra, is a 16-piece big band including trumpets, trombones, saxophones, piano, bass and drums. It is comprized of the region’s top musicians, under the co-leadership of trombonist, Teddy Adams and saxophonist, Randy Reese.

Hunter Spouses’ Club Honor, Strength, Courage Golf Classic – Savannah, GA

The Hunter Spouses’ Club will hold the Honor, Strength & Courage Golf Tournament Saturday, October 13, 2007. The event will be a fundraiser to benefit the Scholarship and Welfare funds. Tournament play will be a scramble format six holes best ball, six holes select shot, six holes alternate shot, and will begin with an 8:00am shotgun start on Saturday Oct 13th.

Celebrity guests scheduled to appear include KIX96 Jim Dixon and Golf Channel Reality Show star, Mike Foster.

MOVIE ARTIST WILLIAM ARMSTRONG OPENS ART GALLERY – Savannah,

After painting scenes for The Legend of Bagger Vance, renowned scenic artist William Armstrong scrapped the film business and moved to Savannah to paint the landscape of the Lowcountry. He opens new studio/gallery Oct. 12 with a retrospective of his work.

SAVANNAH GA: Armstrong and his wife Monique, who runs the couple’s Armstrong Inns, are opening a gallery/studio at 145 Habersham Street, in the shop known to longtime Savannahians as the “Day Old Bread Store.” Armstrong’s annual exhibitions have become a much anticipated social event for avid art collectors, attracting over a thousand visitors.
