Scarecrow Stroll – St Marys, GA

The Downtown Merchants will be hosting an evening of fun for your entire family called The Scarecrow Stroll. During the hours of 5 – 7 PM visitors are invited to view all of the creative scarecrows, pick up a treat from the downtown businesses and watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” on the grounds of Orange Hall. Costumes are welcome.

Beading for Adults – Charleston, S.C.

The City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department offers a Beading for Adults class. Michelle Rose will teach all the basics for students to bead their own jewelry in three monthly classes. First, beading a necklace; second, making a necklace using a chain; third, pendant wrapping. Basic materials provided. The Meeting Place, 1077 East Montague Ave., North Charleston. 6:30p.m. – 8p.m. $25 per class with the 3rd class at $35 for increased materials and longer time. Hay Days in St. Marys Coming Up – St. Marys, GA

Haydays in St. MarysFall has once again come to St. Marys and with that the celebration of the harvest season with the annual “Hay Days” event. Hay Days kicks off October 13th and continue through November 3rd. The quaint downtown district of St. Marys will be transformed into a beautiful fall display. Storefronts and historic homes emblazoned with pumpkins, scarecrows, hay bales and flowering potted mums will enhance the harvest season scene.

Free Concert wih Savannah Jazz Orchestra – Georgia

The Coastal Jazz Association of Savannah will present a special concert featuring the Savannah Jazz Orchestra for Senior Citizens which will be held on the 3rd floor at the Savannah Civic Center at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2007.
The Savannah Jazz Orchestra, is a 16-piece big band including trumpets, trombones, saxophones, piano, bass and drums. It is comprized of the region’s top musicians, under the co-leadership of trombonist, Teddy Adams and saxophonist, Randy Reese.

USS Hawes Arrives in Savannah – Georgia

A special ship arrived in Savannah, the frigate, USS Hawes. The ship has recently returned from a deployment to the Horn of Africa, Persian Gulf, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and China, reports WSAV-TV. USS Hawes sailed past Fort Jackson and was saluted with a cannon firing.

The Hawes’ crew includes about 200 members. Some of the sailors will be taking in some of the Oktoberfest activities on River Street throughout the weekend.
