There are lot of events and fun happenings in coastal South Carolina during the month of July 2011. One of our favorite cities to visit is Charleston, SC, and there is never a shortage of things to see in Charleston. Here are a few of the events.

HarbourFest Hilton Head Island

One of the best way to spend a summer evening is at HarbourFest. This event has become a signature event during the warmer season at Shelter Cove Harbour. HarbourFest offers live entertainment every night of the week, and there’s even fireworks. All events at HarbourFest are free and open to the public. This concert features traditional roots reggae mixed in with a new school attitude. The Reggae Nights concert series takes place in the county parks in the Charleston, SC area all summer long. No advance tickets will be sold. Band subject to change.  Saturday, July 17, 7:30-11 p.m. James Island County Park. $8 or 5 Greenbax/Free: Gold Pass Holders and ages 12 & under.

At the new Mount Pleasant Pier you can listen to some of the best music Charleston has to offer, with bluegrass band Common Ground.   Beverages will be available for purchase on-site. Only 800 tickets will be sold for this event. Advance purchase is recommended. There will be no refunds issued or rain dates scheduled for this event. Reggae Nights – Charleston, SC

Even though summer is over, the Reggae Nights summer concert series is coming up on the last and final concert for the summer on Saturday October 17, 2009, at Wannamaker County Park. This time Reggae Infinity is performing. This is the last chance to attend Reggae Nights, the Summer Concert Series of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission, for this season, so don’t miss out.

Reggae Infinity was formed in 1996 in Columbia, SC and consists of four members who hail from all around the Caribbean islands. They have four upcoming events in October alone including their stop in North Charleston for Reggae Nights. They have recorded a number of original songs with a strong spiritual foundation and are appropriate for all age groups.

The gates open at 7:30 pm and music starts at 8:30 pm. Admission is $8.00 or 5 books of Greenbax. Children 12 and under enjoy free admission. Annual Gold Passes will be honored.

Reggae Nights in James Island County Park, Charleston

Let the cool sounds of Selah Dubb soothe your soul and enjoy a concert with Reggae Nights, the Summer Concert Series of the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission.

Selah Dubb recorded four albums in 2008 and the band has played over 120 shows in both North Carolina and South Carolina. Their original music is described as high vibration funky reggae with a spacey soul twist. Selah Dubb also perform popular music from well-known artists like Bob Marley, The Police, and Sublime. Music lovers don’t have to be hungry. There will be Caribbean faire available from Brieles Lowcountry Café, delious pizza, Italian ice, and another Lowcountry festival favorite — kettle korn and boiled peanuts.

The concert takes place on Saturday, June 13 at James Island County Park. The gates open at 7:30 pm and music starts at 8:30 pm.

Admission is $8.00 or 5 books of Greenbax. Children 12 and under enjoy free admission. Annual Gold Passes will be honored.

Reggae Nights Charleston South Carolina

Reggae Nights with De Lions of Jah in Charleston

It’s time again to enjoy summer in Wannamaker County Park with the annual Reggae Nights. The first concert of the season takes place on Saturday, May 9th. Gates open at 7:30 pm and the concert begins at 8:30 pm.

Bring your whole gang, your own blanket or chair, and your best mood. Spend an evening in the park enjoying an outdoor concert.

Charleston County Park & Recreation Commission will play host to
De Lions Of Jah at its first concert of this summer’s reggae series. The concert, held at Wannamaker County Park, will be on Saturday, May 9 with gates opening at 7:30pm and music beginning at 8:30pm.

Bring your chair or blanket, kick back, and celebrate summer with an outdoor old school reggae concert with a new attitude.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate. $8 for adults (13 and up) or 5 Greenbax; children 12 and under are free. Annual Gold Passes will be honored. Food, beverage, and souvenirs will be available for purchase.
