After squandering their fortunes on drink and gambling, Tom Aimwell and Jack Archer seek refuge in the countryside. They hope to seduce two ladies of status and fortune, but true love and a band of thieves soon complicate their scheming. For more than a century, The Beaux’ Stratagem, written in 1707 by George Farquhar, was one of the most frequently performed English comedies, enjoying constant revivals. Recently rediscovered, this classic boasts an adaptation begun by Thornton Wilder and completed 65 years later by Tony Award-nominated playwright Ken Ludwig.

“Wild Dreams – Discovering Henry M. Flagler” Comes to Whitney Laboratory
See for yourself the wild dreams of Henry Flagler as Paul J. Jellinek presents his one-man show “Wild Dreams – Discovering Henry M. Flagler.” This benefit performance takes you on an exciting journey through Henry Flagler’s life – from his women, to his work with John D. Rockefeller, to his oil monopoly, hotels and railways, even his family affairs. This promises to be an extraordinary afternoon of history and entertainment as Jellinek explores the myths and facts about “the man who invented Florida”.
This performance will be held on Saturday, September 27th, at 2:00 p.m. at Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience in the Center for Marine Studies. The play is a total of 2 hours, including a 30 minute intermission. Tickets are $10 each and all proceeds will benefit Whitney Lab’s educational programs, the Traveling Zoo and A Day at Whitney Lab. These programs introduce children to science through hands-on discovery and help foster an interest in scientific exploration. Tickets are available at Whitney Lab, SunTrust Bank in Hammock Dunes and Flagler Beach, and RBC Bank in Palm Coast and Flagler Beach. Donations are also gladly accepted.
