can-am-logoEvery March, the Myrtle Beach area celebrates its Canadian – and American – visitors, in a event called Can-Am Days. During Can-Am Days there are lots of events to choose from - concerts, receptions, a St. Patty’s Day parade, sporting events, car shows and much more.

From March 8-16, the Myrtle Beach area will welcome its Canadian and American visitors with an eight-day line-up of family-fun activities, giveaways and welcome receptions taking place in and around some of the area’s newest attractions. Last year, more than 200,000 visitors enjoyed the festival that attracts not only Canadians but also snow birds from Northern states.

x-decEleven wonderful homes surrounding the marsh in Murrells Inlet will open their doors for the holiday home tour. Murrells Inlet Presbyterian Church will also open their recently restored 1925 Little Memorial Chapel on Murrells Inlet Road. The tour runs for one day only on Saturday, December 8, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance tickets are $25 while supplies last.

x-rednoseGet in the holiday spirit with the annual community parade, “Christmas Boats and Floats for the Kids”! Come and enjoy the fun as the Murrells Inlet Christmas parade starts at Willcox Avenue and marches down Business 17. Immediately following the parade, meet at Morse Landing Park with Santa and the gang. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit with the children at the park. The Christmas tree will be lit and the Eagle Scouts will man a bonfire to take the nip out of the air. The Seaside Elementary School, Heaven’s Gate, Brown Chapel, Living Waters and Jim Whitlow choirs will entertain the crowd at the park. This event is a must-do for all the kids and the grown-ups who still have a lot of kid left in them.

Christmas Parade starts at 4pm, Tree Lighting immediately following the parade

Nights of a Thousand Candles - Georgetown, SC

Brookgreen Gardens Experience the enchantment of thousands of sparkling lights from live oak trees as they illuminate garden paths during musical performances and carolers during Brookgreen’ most popular annual event that has now become a holiday tradition.
Back by popular demand, Brookgreen Gardens’ celebrated holiday lights festival, Nights of a Thousand Candles, will expand its hours and add an additional night! This year the gardens will open from 3:00 – 10:00 p.m. for the festival and will offer an early-bird dinner special from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. The full dinner menu will be served from 5 - 9 p.m. So come early for dinner and stay to see the magic as the gardens glow by candlelight!
