2010 Wings and Wheels – Jacksonville, Florida

The 2010 Wings and Wheels event will take on Saturday, September 25, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm in Jacksonville, Florida. This event is a combination airport open house and car & truck show. The event features “wheels” such as hot rods,modern stock and antiques. The “wings” section include airplanes from antiques to warbirds to homebuilts.

In addition, there are displays of some of aviations most famous airplanes such as the P-51 mustang, Stearman bi-plane, and a fully restored 1933 Lockheed Electra. There will also be many new airplanes as well as helicopters you can watch.

Other activities include a Kids Fun Zone provided by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, live entertainment, food, prizes, and vendors.

The organizers are expecting a turnout of 8 – 12000 people. This event is a fundraiser for EAA Chapter 193, a Not-for-Profit organization dedicated to preserving general aviation.

Admission is free.

Next Exhibit in St. Johns County Rotunda Gallery

Have you ever wondered how a child views the town they live in? A new exhibit in the St. Johns County Rotunda Gallery will present a unique look of Lincolnville as seen by its younger residents.

Opening Reception
The opening reception for A Day in the Life of Lincolnville Through the Eyes of Children will take place on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 8:00a.m. before the St. Johns County Board of Commissions meeting in the County Administration building located at 500 San Sebastian View.

Young Artists
The exhibit will feature 20 photographs and 7 paintings portraying the Lincolnville neighborhood.  The participating artists range in age from 11 to16 years old. Local photographer, Justin Itnyre gave direction to the young photographers and  local art instructor, Corrie Borglund,  helped as well.  The childrens’ photographs will be published in a book later this year.

A Day in the Life of Lincolnville Through the Eyes of Children will be on exhibit through October.  It is the first all student art exhibit to hang in the Rotunda.

The Cyprian Center of Expressive Arts
The mission of the Cyprian Center of Expressive Arts is to bring art and art programming to the Lincolnville community. In keeping with this mission, the Cyprian Center applied for and received a grant from the Crisp Ellert Fund for a project titled, A Day in the Life of Lincolnville Through the Eyes of Children.

The St. Johns County Administration building is located at 500 San Sebastian View in St. Augustine , just south of the County’s Lewis Speedway complex.

The exhibit is available for public viewing weekdays between 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m.
The Cultural Council is funded in part by a Local Arts Agency Grant from the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs and through the support of Regions

for Kids Ages 4 and Up

Every Wednesday, from June 2 through August 25 kids ages four and up can visit any one of A.C. Moore’s stores, no reservations necessary, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. and make their own cool, age-appropriate craft and take it home. And, it’s all free, while supplies last.

Free Family Film – Mt Pleasant, SC

Free Family Film this Summer at the Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park and Pier!

This summer, a series of free family movies will be screened outdoors. The movie night is held at the Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park and Pier, the first of the series will be a 2010 Oscar award-winning family film presented on Saturday, June 26.

Bring chairs and spread out on the park’s Great Lawn to enjoy an evening movie on the giant inflatable screen.

Parking fees of 50 cents per hour will apply during the movie. Drinks, treats and snacks will be available for purchase at the pier’s Riverwatch Cafe, and on-site vendors will sell kettle corn, boiled peanuts, Italian ice and beverages. At the foot of the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge, stretching out into the Charleston Harbor, the scenic Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park and Pier will be a great spot to bring the family to enjoy an evening under the stars in the cool harbor breeze! This event is presented by the Town of Mount Pleasant and the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission.

All movies begin at 9 p.m. on select Saturdays throughout the summer and early fall.

It looks like the organizers has made a list of great movies for us to watch again – and for the younger ones to enjoy for the first time ever. Just take a look at the impressive list below!
