Twin TomsJoin a city of Charleston environmental educator for the Gobble and Glue event!  All participants will learn about our favorite holiday bird, the turkey, make a Thanksgiving decoration using natural items, and eat a Thanksgiving treat that they will create. All kids must be accompanied by an adult. No fee!

Star Gazing - Amelia Island, FL

Secrets of the Salt Marsh - Amelia Island, FL

Fall SamplerJoin a park ranger and discover the importance of estuarine systems that surround the inshore sides of barrier islands like those of the Talbot Islands State Parks complex. This ranger-guided hike along the salt marsh will help point out why these areas are one of the most productive ecosystems on Earth, the many roles the salt marsh plays, the plant and animal life found in this natural community, and the impacts humans have on this system. This program will take place at the Ribault Club on Fort George Island Cultural State Park. No reservations are necessary and the program is free. Sidewalk Chalk Contest in Jacksonville

This weekend there is a sidewalk art event in downtown Jacksonville at the Landing. Contestants will show up in the morning and start drawing on the sidewalks. Bring your whole gang down to the Landing to watch. Judging starts at 2:00 pm.

Along our journey, we will stop at an island refuge and visit a Timucuan encampment and learn more about their clothing, shelter, hunting and fishing techniques, tools, weapons and the native foods that helped sustain them.
